The community of Westerkappeln is situated among rolling hills between the
foothills of the Wiehengebirge and the Teutoburger forest. The boundaries of
the municipality Westerkappeln connect to the state of Lower Saxony and the
city of Osnabrueck on the east and to the town of Mettingen in the west,
flanked by Ibbenbueren, Tecklenburg and Lotte in the south. Autobahn access
on the south is the "Hansa-Line" (A-30) connecting Amsterdam and Berlin.
Access on the east side the (A-1) connecting Bremen and Dortmund.
The community combines the town center and the farming-hamlets of Hambueren
Harndarpe, Duete, Metten, Sennlich and Seeste, as well as Oster - and Westerbeck.
